Alcohol and Sleep: Why You May Wake Up Feeling Tired
That evening drink helps you switch off after a long day. But later, your sleep may be broken and the morning begins with less energy than you expected. Alcohol can make you sleepy at first while disrupting sleep later in the night.
Look at the evening, not just bedtime
Notice whether drinking tends to go with later nights, restless sleep or a tired next day. If it is safe for you to do so, consider changing the routine and seeing how you feel. A different way to unwind might be a walk, music or a quiet conversation.
Leave some energy for each other
When you are exhausted, affection and sex may slip down the list. Talk about that without blaming each other. Persistent sleep problems deserve advice. If you may be dependent on alcohol or experience withdrawal symptoms, seek medical support before stopping abruptly.
