When Porn Becomes the Standard You Measure Yourself Against
You may know that pornography is produced, edited and performed, yet still catch yourself comparing bodies, erections or stamina. That comparison can follow you into real intimacy and leave little room for your own preferences.
Separate a scene from an expectation
What you see does not show the full preparation, pauses or private experiences of the people involved. It also does not tell you what your partner wants. Ask about their comfort and enjoyment rather than borrowing a script.
Notice how viewing affects you
If it leaves you anxious or dissatisfied, consider changing the habit and seeing how you feel. Talk honestly about boundaries in your relationship. If you feel unable to control use or it is causing distress, a qualified therapist can help you explore that.
