A Relationship Check-In That Feels Like a Conversation
“We need to talk” can make an ordinary concern sound like a crisis. If you would like to check in more often, the setting and opening can make a difference. It can be as simple as talking over breakfast.
Start with one real question
Ask, “How have we been doing this week?” or “Is there anything you need more help with?” Share something you appreciated as well as something you want to change. A check-in does not need an agenda covering the entire relationship.
Keep it manageable
Choose one issue to discuss and one next step you both understand. If the conversation becomes tense, take a break and agree when to return. Regular honesty is easier to welcome when it does not mean an unexpected list of complaints.
