Low Libido After 40: When You Still Care but Want Sex Less

FORTION JOURNAL · SEXUAL WELLBEING

You love your partner. You enjoy being together. Yet when the evening finally slows down, sex feels like one more thing you do not have energy for. A change in desire can be confusing, especially if you assume it must say something about your relationship.

Look at the life around your sex life

Work, poor sleep, relationship tension, medicines and health changes can all play a part. Think about what has changed recently rather than deciding that age explains everything. Tell your partner what you miss, whether that is affection, privacy or simply having enough energy to enjoy an evening.

Make room for an honest answer

You might say, “My desire feels different lately, but I don't want you to read that as rejection.” If low desire worries you or continues, speak with a doctor. Buying a product or forcing yourself into sex cannot tell you what is behind the change.
