Body Confidence After 40: Being Seen Without Feeling Judged
You notice a softer stomach, a scar or a change in how your body moves. In an intimate moment, your attention goes straight to it. Your partner may be reaching for you while you are imagining a criticism they have not made.
Notice what helps you feel at ease
Choose clothing, lighting or a pace that feels comfortable without making your body something to apologise for. Try focusing on warmth, touch and what you enjoy. Confidence does not have to arrive before you are allowed affection.
Let your partner understand
You might say, “I'm feeling self-conscious and could use a little patience.” If body worries keep you from activities or closeness you want, talking with a therapist can help. You do not have to earn intimacy by changing your appearance first.
