Making Couple Time Without Giving Up Your Own Life

FORTION JOURNAL · LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS

You want more time together, but you also value friends, hobbies and a little space. It can be easy to turn this into a choice between being a good partner and being your own person. Most couples need room for both.

Compare what a good week looks like

Talk about how much time feels connecting and how much personal time helps you feel refreshed. Be specific about plans rather than arguing over words such as “always” and “never.” Different needs do not automatically mean different levels of love.

Make plans you can trust

Choose some time together and protect it with the same care as other commitments. Leave space for friendships without using them to avoid a difficult conversation. Review the balance when work, family or energy levels change.
